Image Safely – A New Radiation Protection for
Imaging Environments

As a global leader and pioneer in the field of radiation protection and medical suspension systems, MAVIG considers it a major goal and responsibility to offer clinically proven and safe solutions.

The new Image Safely setup is MAVIG’s answer to the request of clinical facilities as well as relevant professional societies (e.g. SCAI) for enhanced radiation protection devices (ERPDs), solutions that provide increased radiation protection while reducing orthopedic injuries [1]. MAVIG’s setup combines several advanced protective systems:

• the newly developed ceiling-suspended shielding system OT58 in combination with a protective drape for either femoral or radial access
• proven lower body protection UT70
• as well as rectangular drapes to eliminate gaps and further reduce scatter.

Together, these elements provide seamless coverage while allowing intuitive integration into existing clinical workflows and room setups, especially with existing Portegra®2 ceiling-mounted systems. The resulting Image Safely® Zone provides a wide protection area, enabling a high degree of freedom of movement for both operators and supporting staff. The extended height also offers effective protection for taller personnel, including sensitive areas such as the eye lens.

The latest 2025 data, presented at TCT in San Francisco [2], confirm the effectiveness and safety of the Image Safely® setup.

The system achieves up to 98% scatter radiation reduction compared to no shielding, with additional protection of up to 81.4% compared to standard shielding.

The “Image Safely” system has been presented at leading international trade shows and conferences around the world, such as SCAI, TCT, RSNA, and WHX (formerly Arab Health), and has received consistently very positive feedback from the clinical community.
