The anatomically optimized design of the BR130 X-ray protection glasses with integrated, patented dosimeter connection* ensures continuous radiation protection – from the nose to the temple.
The dosimeter adapter facilitates regular monitoring of the eye lens dose and thus ensures the best possible measurement.
The common goal of setting new standards for radiation protection glasses and eye lens dosimetry has united the three project partners Dosilab, Mirion Medical GmbH (former Mirion Technologies GmbH) and MAVIG GmbH.
For the first time the European EURATOM Directive 2013/59 limits the annual value for the eye lens dose at a mandatory threshold of max. 20 mSv per year. However, even below this limit the exposure to radiation is to be kept as low as possibly achievable. In addition, regular monitoring of the eye lens dose is mandatory for the risk group of occupationally exposed persons – in accordance with the new Radiation Protection Ordinance (31.12.2018), and applicable with a potential organ dose equivalent of 15 mSv.
In the case of monitoring the eye lens dose, a constant position of the dosimeter(s) is most ideal. Together with project partners AWST Evaluation Centre of the Helmholtz Centre and Dosilab, MAVIG has developed a new type of radiation protection glasses that integrates lens dosimetry into the approach in a beneficial way.
The BR130 glasses allow the use of x-ray dosimeter due to the patented dosimeter connection on the both sides. The dosimeter connection has been designed in such a way that there are no user restrictions and yet the best possible dosimetry is guaranteed.
To determine the prescribed eye lens dose for persons occupationally exposed to radiation, a dosimeter of the measurement type Hp(3) has been mandatory in Germany since 01 January 2022. These dosimeters have been specially developed for measuring the eye lens dose at a depth of 3 mm (lens position) and are available with MAVIG glasses models BR130 and BR330.
Our eyewear accessory set includes a functional glasses strap, a high-quality case, a microfiber cleaning cloth and now NEW – a mini glasses screwdriver. All the necessary tools for your goggles, practically combined in one set.
For a more comfortable fit and protection, you should always use the glasses strap supplied. X-ray protective lenses are made of lead glass. They are therefore more fragile and have a higher weight.
The use of a glasses strap significantly improves wearing comfort, as the weight of the glasses is distributed more evenly and does not rest completely on the nose. It also prevents the glasses from falling off.
* Dosimeters and dosimetry services are not included in the delivery. For the purchase of compatible dosimeters, as well as the dosimetry service, please refer to the instructions:
Our radiation protection glass allows optical corrections in the direct cut, both in the single vision and multifocal range.
For the universal size, values for the sphere of +3.00 dpt to -5.00 dpt and a cylinder of +2.00 dpt to -2.00 dpt are feasible.
Optical corrections outside the standard range are available on request.
